Stubborn

I'm stubborn. I know it. And when I want something, I usually end up finding a way to get it…
But one thing STILL eludes me… His eyes… We've known each other for years. I know his real name, we are the best of friends, and now we've taken it one step further. But I've never seen his eyes. Even when I'm hanging around at the Wayne Manor he has on those sunglasses or his mask… And I'll be truthful, it bugs the shit out of me, that DaddyBats is THAT protective, and that Dick plays into it. I already know his real name, but I can't see his eyes? It kills me.
"Uh KF? Wally? You okay? You've been kind of quiet this whole time… and you're NEVER quiet." I'm yanked back to reality, and I remember where I am.
Dick and I were on our first date. Nothing major, or entirely romantic, just a walk in the park.
"Wally?" Dick asked again, his eyebrow rising. "You okay?"
"I'm fine Dick. It's just…" I start…
"Just what?" a hint of worry showing in his voice. "Do you wanna go back to the cave?"
"No no… I just…" I stammer as I look into his eyes… and by that I mean those dumb glasses… I seriously want to rip them off his face, and see what hides behind them… what I've dreamed of for so long…but I can't. I know Dick would probably get pissed at me and be the ninja he is and slip away…
"Wally? Dude what's wrong with you? You aren't feeling the aster." He chuckles.
Goddamn that laugh… it's so… perfect… so… him.
"Okay Dick, I'm gonna ask you something and you will probably say no, but I'm personally too stubborn not to ask." I start. "Can I… well since we are technically dating now… uh… See your eyes?"
His emotion doesn't change. He just stares at me for a moment. Crap. I blew it My stomach starts to twist into knots, and I'm afraid he'll blow up at me for asking…
"N-nevermind dude… It was dumb of me to as-" I start, but suddenly I feel a hand grab my flannel jacket, and I'm pulled down to his eye level.
"You know I can't let you see them willingly. Bruce would KILL me." He smiles.
I relax a bit… "I think I hear a 'but' in there somewhere." I say, my voice portraying how eager I am.
"BUT…" he begins, as he snickers a tiny bit. He pulls my ear right to his mouth, and he whispers so quietly that I had to strain to hear him, "If you can catch me, I couldn't keep you from seeing them."
He lets go and I'm dazed for a moment. Did Dick just say he'd let me see his eyes??? I look down to where he was only seconds ago, and… and… he's gone! SHIT! Where'd he go? Suddenly I hear his signature laugh behind me, and I whip around only to see my little bird sitting up in a tree yelling, "You gotta catch me first!"
"Oh you are SO ON." I reply as I pull out my red tinted goggles and snap them to my face. Within a few seconds I'm up the tree, but of course, that little ninja is gone.
"Okay Rob, you asked for it!" I reply as a breeze picks up. Out of the corner of my eye I see his tiny form flipping and flying from branch to branch, making every acrobatic move seem like Childs play.
I zip over to where he is, lunging trying to grab his waist, but he's always one step ahead of me. Ducking away at the last moment, jumping away gracefully as I'm spazing all over trying to grab him.
"So you're a speedster? I wouldn't know it based on this performance!" He jokingly taunted from a tree parallel from the one I'm on. Normally this kind of taunt from ANYONE would make me insanely pissed, but Dick… he's just making me insane, I want to catch him so bad, but he's always one step ahead, like he knows what I'll do next.
Then I have to best idea EVER. Or dumbest… I don't really know, It could be either one, but I'm crazy and stubborn enough to try it. I zip over to his tree, and he jumps to the next branch 10 feet away, and I follow, but I fall short, and crash to the ground below with a thud.
"Wally!" he yells with fear in his voice.
"Ow….I'm okay Dick… nothing broken…." Play the part wally. He'll come.
He's suddenly by my side, his face fraught with worry. "I'm so sorry Wally, I didn't want you to get hur-! What the!"
I spring like lighting. I grab Dick's waist and tackle him to the ground. And guess what? His glasses fall right off his face. That wasn't even part of my plan. He closes his eyes, dazed for a moment, and he begins to bring his hands up to his eyes. My arms immediately pin down his arms, and I have to admit… I kinda feel like a rapist…
Then the moment I've waited for happens. His eyelids slowly open, to reveal a pair of gorgeous sea blue eyes, unlike any I've seen before… and damn… DAMN. They are just so… perfect…
"Jerk. You SO were not hurt." He smiles. "So has your curiosity been fulfilled?"
"OH yeah." I chuckle. "and may I just say, falling out of a tree, was so worth being able to finally see your beautiful eyes."
"Well, here's another prize, awarded for being totally stubborn." He replies with a sly grin.  He somehow managed to free his arms and they're suddenly wrapped around my neck, pulling my head down towards his, and our lips lock into a soft kiss. My hand wraps around his waist as I pull him upright, and my other hand runs through his soft raven hair, and I'm stuck in a moment of pure bliss.
Our lips part momentarily as he looks me right in my emerald eyes. God damn… those eyes, I could stare for hours… so perfect and blue, and never ending…
He suddenly looks up and notices the sun starting to set. "should we head back?" he asks.
I'm silent for a moment, then I turn to him, smile mischievously and pull him down to the ground, pulling him into my embrace.
And we lay there, the whole night, watching the stars. No masks. No glasses. No DaddyBats watching.
Just Wally West and Dick Grayson.
I'm stubborn. I know it. And when I want something, I ALWAYS find a way to get it.
